Indian Palak Green Chard 2g Seed Perpetual Spinach Beta vulgaris var bengalensis. Palak is a wonderful leafy green to grow in your garden. This variety of Swiss Chard is characterized by slender stems, bright green, glossy, mild tasting leaves that can be enjoyed fresh in Salads as well as cooked into a variety of dishes such as Palak paneer, dal Palak and sag. Does not bolt in the summer heat and is therefore also called perpetual spinach. Work some compost into the soil and sow your seeds in the garden, raised bed or containers. Germinates slowly in about 10-14 days. Grows well in cool weather and can be started early outdoors. In Zone 8, we usually sow our Palak in February and make our first harvest in April.
