Acmella oleracea, electric daisy, buzz buttons, 30+ seeds

Acmella oleracea (Spilanthes oleracea) is a unique edible plant from South America (likely Brazil) that is also known as electric daisy toothache plant, or buzz buttons. Leaves, and especially flower heads and buds contain spilanthol, which excites the touch neurons in the mouth, creating a strong and memorable tingling or buzzing sensation with a lemony background flavor. The tingling is similar to that of Sichuan peppers. The young buds have the strongest effect, but the leaves and mature flowers can also be eaten. 30+ seeds from 2024. Surface sow seeds in a warm place any time, though spring is probably best. Typical potting soil should be sufficient. Keep moist, but not sopping. Very easy to grow and self-seeds, but susceptible to aphids, especially if water-stressed. Seeds should have high viability under the right conditions and remain viable for several years, however, since I cannot control the techniques and growing conditions used, I cannot warranty the seeds. However, I try to provide instructions to maximize your success, and hope that these plants grow well for you! I offer free shipping on additional purchases, so feel free to check out my other items. 100 PARACRESS SEEDS – MEDICINAL HERB – AKA; TOOTHACHE PLANT FREE SHIPPING

100 PARACRESS SEEDS – MEDICINAL HERB – AKA; TOOTHACHE PLANT Spilanthes oleracea is a species of flowering herb in the family Asteraceae. Common names include toothache plant, paracress, Sichuan buttons, buzz buttons, tingflowers and electric daisy. Its native distribution is unclear, but it is likely derived from a Brazilian Acmella species. It is grown as an ornamental and attracts fireflies when in bloom. It is used as a medicinal remedy in various parts of the world. A small, erect plant, it grows quickly and bears gold and red inflorescences. It is frost-sensitive but perennial in warmer climates. Its specific epithet oleracea means “vegetable/herbal” in Latin and is a form of holeraceus (oleraceus). For culinary purposes, small amounts of shredded fresh leaves are said to add a unique flavour to salads. Cooked leaves lose their strong flavour and may be used as leafy greens. Both fresh and cooked leaves are used in dishes such as stews in northern Brazil, especially in the state of Pará. They are combined with chilis and garlic to add flavor and vitamins to other foods. The flower bud has a grassy taste followed by a strong tingling or numbing sensation and often excessive salivation, with a cooling sensation in the throat. The buds are known as “buzz buttons”, “Sichuan buttons”, “sansho buttons”, and “electric buttons”.
