XL Mylar Packet – Gloriosa Daisy SeedsGold Vault Mylar Zip Packet Also known as Black-Eyed Susans, the common name of this flower comes from a popular poem of the same name by 19th century poet John Gay. The genus name “Rudbeckia” honors a family of renowned scientists and professors, the Rudbecks of Sweden, who taught Carl Linnaeus at the University of Uppsula. The species name “amplexicaulis” means “stem-clasping,” in reference to the growth of the leaves. Direct sow in late fall, pressing into the surface of the soil since this plant needs light to germinate. The seeds can also be started indoors 6-8 weeks before planting in spring. Keep seedlings lightly moist, and transplant them as soon as they have developed several leaves. XL Mylar Packet – Common Evening Primrose SeedsGold Vault Mylar Zip Packet Historians believe that this flower originally came from Mexico and Central America. It earned its common name by opening late in the day, though in some regions the blooms tend to open at other times. Botanist Nicolas-Charles Seringe gave this plant its species name “lamarckiana,” in honor of noted French naturalist Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. Hugo de Vries, a Dutch expert in genetics, later made this plant a long term subject of investigation because of its seemingly unusual mutations. By using his experiments with this primrose as the evidence supporting his thesis, Dr. de Vries hoped to disprove Darwin’s famous theory of natural selection over extended periods of time. Coneflower PRAIRIE Pollinator Wild Flowers Biennial, Perennial Non-GMO 500 Seeds

Coneflower PRAIRIE Biennial, Perennial Drought Tolerant Wild Flower Non-GMO 500 SeedsFresh – No Filler – Pure Seed – Non-GMOPRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRatibida columnifera, Prairie Coneflower is a biennial to short-lived perennial which is native from Alberta to Texas, New Mexico and Arkansas. Flowers have an elongated center and drooping yellow petals. It is easy to grow and prefers moderate to dry, well-drained soils and full sun. Plants bloom in summer and are ideal for wildflower mixtures, pollinator plantings and xeriscape gardens.Growing wild in the plains states, Prairie Coneflowers get their name from yellow petals surrounding tall cones. Light-green foliage creates a beautiful backdrop for the textured blooms. This brilliant yellow wildflower is a classic native variety that is very popular for native seed mixes because it is reliable and showy. The songbirds also love the numerous seed cones and forage on them into the cold winter months.Native coneflowers have a reputation for establishing themselves in soil that few other plants would tolerate. They have a long-lived persistence, and also attract butterflies and songbirds. English naturalist Thomas Nuttall first documented this species on one of his many expeditions throughout western America. The Latin name “columnifera” means “column,” referring to the prominent center of each blossom.Attributes: Cut Flower, Deer Resistant, Native Bees, Pollinator, U.S. Native, Xeriscape GROWING INSTRUCTIONSSowing: Direct sow in late fall, pressing into the surface of the soil. For spring planting, mix the Ratibida Pinnata seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 30 days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination, which usually takes 3-4 weeks. The yellow coneflower seeds can also be started indoors 8-10 weeks before planting in spring. Keep seedlings lightly moist, and transplant them as soon as they have developed several leaves.Growing: Water seedlings regularly until they become established, and control weeds. When grown from seed, these plants usually begin blooming in their second year. Mature plants tolerate drought well and flourish in fairly dry soil, though they will benefit from occasional watering in dry weather. The blooming period tends to be longer with occasional watering. Mature plants can be divided every 2-3 years for healthy growth. This plant attracts butterflies and repels deer, as well as growing well in rocky, sandy, or clay soil. It makes an excellent choice for hot, dry areas.Harvesting: For cut flowers, choose stems with flowers that have just opened. Strip the foliage that will fall below the water level, and place in water immediately.Seed Saving: After the petals fall from the blossom, the cone will darken and develop ripe seed. As soon as the seed turns nearly black and can be rubbed loose from the cone, cut the ripe cones from the plant and spread them to dry. Thresh the plant material to separate the seed from the stems. Store the Ratibida Pinnata seeds in a cool, dry place. WE SHIP FAST & FREE! Your orders ship the next business date after payment via US mail. NO TRACKING.
