Plant grows up to 15 feet in height (though it is often much smaller if grown in containers) and produces edible, red, egg-shaped fruits that have bright orange flesh and a sweet and tangy flavor. Fruits can be eaten fresh (minus the skin, which is quite bitter) or used to make juice, chutney, desert toppings, or sauces. Tamarillos will typically produce fruit within 18 to 20 months after planting and will continue to fruit up to 12 years. Start seeds indoors 12 to 24 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in small, individual containers filled with one part potting soil and one part sand. Keep soil moist and at a temperature between 75 to 80 degrees F. Germination should occur in 3 to 5 weeks. Contact Us Don’t hesitate to contact us via eBay messages if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
