2000 Maltese Cross Wildflower Seeds – Everwilde Farms Mylar Seed Packet

XL Mylar Packet – Maltese Cross SeedsGold Vault Mylar Zip Packet This plant originally comes from parts of Russia and northern Asia; according to tradition, it first arrived in Europe with the Crusaders returning from the Middle East. This soon became a popular garden plant, and can be found in the list of plants that Thomas Jefferson planted in his experimental gardens at Monticello. The Royal Horticultural Society later gave it the Award of Garden Merit. The common name comes from the shape of the flowers, which resemble the pointed star shape known as a Maltese Cross. Direct sow in early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked; press lightly into the surface of the soil, since this seed needs light to germinate. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which usually takes 2-3 weeks. To start indoors, plant the seed in germination flats 6-8 weeks before the last frost of spring. Keep the soil moist, and transplant the seedlings as soon as they can safely be handled. These seeds are non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms), and are also free from all Neonicotinoids. They are packaged in our superb Gold Mylar Mylar Zip Packaging, which gives the seeds the best storage possible, and allows you to reseal the bag for later use. The artwork and labels on the packet are loaded with information – many people comment that it is the most beautiful packet that they have ever seen. If you have never tried out our seeds before, this is your chance to experience something special!

Maltese cross can also be started in the Spring – outdoors for cooler climates, 6-8 weeks before the final frost date, as well as indoors after a cold stratification period.WHERE TO PLANT MALTESE CROSS SEEDSMaltese Cross can reach its fullest potential when planted in bright, Full Sun conditions. Though it can tolerate Partial Shade, Maltese Cross will become spindly and leggy. Maltese Cross prefers loose, rich, well-draining soil that is somewhat dry. Wet soil is detrimental to maltese Cross, increasing the likelihood of failure.HOW TO PLANT MALTESE CROSS SEEDSDirect sow seeds onto the surface of the soil, and compress firmly, but do not cover – Maltese Cross requires sunlight exposure in order to germinate. For areas with mild winters, cold stratify seeds for 2-3 weeks before sowing your seeds.HOW TO CARE FOR MALTESE CROSSKeep the area your Maltese Cross was planted well-weeded, and once established, this plant should require little by way of care. You can deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooms, or you can leave the spent flower heads so that Maltese Cross can naturally reseed. Once foliage dies back in the fall, you can cut down all of the dead growth and remove the debris. The Maltese Cross will return the next season.WE SHIP FAST & FREE!
