Test Showy Tick Trefoil (Desmodium canadense) Check out our other listings! Showy Tick Trefoil is a perennial wildflower native to the central and northeastern United States where it can often be found growing in black sand prairies, moist meadows, limestone glades, and alongside lakeshores and river banks. Plant grows to around 5 feet in height and produces spiked, bright pink flowers that bloom for about three weeks in mid-summer. Attracts numerous species of bees and butterflies, and is a crucial food source for birds such as northern bobwhites and wild turkeys. Direct sow after the last spring frost by planting seeds 1/4 inch deep in the soil. Apply consistent moisture until germination, which should occur within 10-15 days. Please note that the hulls have been removed from these seeds, so no special preparation is needed prior to planting.
