Hill Country Red is an heirloom variety okra originating from the Hill Country of southern Texas. Prolific, six-foot-tall plants produce an explosion of stout, red-tinged pods with firm texture and classic okra flavor. Red color develops in the sunlight, causing beautiful sun-kissed patterns to develop along the ribs of the pods. One of the most beautiful okras out there. Pods will grow to 6 inches at maturity but are most tender when picked at 2 to 3 inches. Great in soups and gumbo and for frying, of course. Harvests begin 60 to 70 days from sowing.
