Callicarpa dichotoma 'Albifructus' is a shrub in the Lamiaceae family. Its native range is from China to Korea. Familiar names include Beauty Berry and White Beautyberry 'Albifructus'. It can be used for a bird garden or a hedge if pruned regularly. An exciting choice for winter displaying with a Pyracantha, Ilex, or a weeping youpon. It can grow to around 2-4 feet tall and wide with arching branches that show bright white berries. The leaves are dark green, about 1-3 inches long that turn yellow in the fall. The flowers are pink to lavender and bloom along the leaf axis. They are in bloom from June until August, where bees, butterflies, birds, and hummingbirds are attracted. It prefers to grow in full sun with average water needs. Zones 5-8 Germination Soak seeds for 24 hours. Sow seeds 1/2" deep, then tamp seeds into the soil and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 30-60 days.
