Clarkia unguiculata is an annual species of wildflower in the Onagraceae family. Also known by the common names elegant clarkia, Passion of Purple, or mountain garland. It is a plant that is endemic to California in many woodland habitats. A spindly and hairless stem growing to a foot in height and has few narrow leaves. The petals have a shade of pink to reddish to purple and slender diamond-shaped. The stigma jets out from the flower and can be quite large. A striking looking flower. Annual Germination Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-70F. Germination is in 21-30 days.
