Eschscholzia californica is a perennial from the Papaveraceae family. This plant is native in Western N. America from Washington to California and Nevada. It is commonly known as the Californian Poppy and grows to 1 foot tall by 8 inches wide quickly. It is in flower from July to September, and the seeds ripen from August to September. It is known for attracting wildlife and is pollinated by bees. It prefers well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil and also can not grow in shade. Zones 6-11 Germination Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-70F. Germination is in 14-30 days. The seed usually germinates in 2-4 weeks.
