Common names are Salisbury's Lily or Morning Star Lily. A native to Russia, Korea, Japan, and China. This lily is a stem-rooting lily which means it can grow roots out of the base and up the stem. The stems can grow up a few feet tall with 1 to 5 flowers atop. The star-shaped flowers can be a deep scarlet color although if you get lucky you can get a rare yellow. Grown in moist soils in part shade to full sun. The fragrance on this one isn't so appealing. Zones 4-9 Germination Keep lily seeds frozen in a tightly sealed plastic bag until you are ready to sow. Sow seeds 1/2' deep into the soil and keep moist in a sunny location. Germination occurs in 3-4 weeks. You will have strong plants with mature stems in 3 years.
