Lobelia speciosa 'Starship Scarlet' is a herbaceous perennial in the Campanulaceae family. Its native range is southeast Canada to northern central U.S. It is an excellent border, container, wet areas, wildlife garden, and urban gardens. They are an excellent cut-flower that will attract birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It grows to 2 feet tall and a foot wide at a fast rate. The deep green leaves are a perfect background for these bright electric scarlet-colored flowers. They grow upright and are in bloom from early summer until mid-fall. It prefers to grow in full sun to part shade with a weekly maintained water need. Zones 5-10 Germination Sow seeds on top of the soil and do not cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover with plastic and keep temperatures around 65-75.F Germination is in 14-60 days.
