A native to southern China. It is also known as Chinese matrimony-vine, Chinese boxthorn, wolfberry, the Chinese tea plant, Chinese wolfberry, and Chinese desert-thorn. This Wolfberry species can grow almost 10 feet tall. The gray branches drape outward and curved down with thorns close to an inch long. The bell-shaped flowers can pop out in groups of 3 and also in singles. It blooms in late Spring to Mid-Summer. The fruits take months (Jul-Oct) to ripen before harvesting. The fruits can be made into tea and deserts and are very popular in cuisine all over the world. A full sun lover and also a drought-tolerant shrub.
