Mammillaria elongata is commonly called the ladyfinger cactus, or the golden lace cactus. It is a small species of cacti reaching only 6 inches tall. They are native to central Mexico. M. elongata produces yellow or white flowers and are widely grown in cultivation for their beauty. Mammillaria elongata are hardy to zones 9b-11b. Plant the seeds directly on the surface of a well draining potting soil. Keep the seeds moist but not soaking wet and keep between 70°F to 80°F for best results. Germination typically occurs between 1 and 3 weeks.
