20 NuMex R Vince Hernandez / Paprika style Pepper Seeds - open-pollinated grown without herbicides and pesticides. These are an open-pollinated variety, that was developed by New Mexico State University around 2013 specifically for being highly productive and producing peppers used for drying in use for paprika powder. Peppers are a deep rich red, with a mild flavor and no heat. The deep red color makes a rich red powder, see photo above which is powdered from these peppers. Plants are vigorous and grow around 36-40 inches tall and bushy, and benefit from staking or cages. One plant can produce around 15 peppers, about enough for one container of paprika after drying and grinding. This is the advantage this pepper variety has, since most other red peppers for paprika would require 2-4 plants to get enough peppers for processing. Ripe peppers are 3-4 inches long. The peppers can be eaten fresh, but ideal use is for drying or paprika powder. Germination tested: 9-2024, germinates in 10-18 days.
