Purple rock cress is a perennial plant to zone 4-8. It grows 6 to 10 inches tall and spreads making a mat about 18 inches or more wide. It develops purple flowers in late April through May. It grows a bit larger in second season. It makes a nice trailing container plant, or, if planted near a retaining wall it will cascade over it. It likes full sun. It can tolerate a bit dry but too much water may cause it to wilt or die. Cut foliage back after blooming to encourage denser growth. The seeds need light to germinate. Press them onto moist soil and keep moist until they germinate. For outdoor planting in the fall or, start 6-8 weeks indoors before the final frost before transferring outdoors. Space 10 inches apart. 40 seeds per pkt.
